Rubblefur strode into camp. "What aneventful evening."
Birchspots brushed up to him. "I'd say! Mothstar didn't even get to speak!"

Mothstar leaped up onto a willow branch. "There is a war coming, I know you can sense it. But we must not involve ourselves without reason. But the clans must know, WillowClan is NOT weak, we WILL defend ourselves when the time comes. But for the time being we will just increase patrols around all borders with other clans."

Bearfern tightened her tail around her three kits. "A war? What happened, Mothstar?"
Whitewolf nodded, stepping forward. "If there is a war, I will fight for my kits!" She snarled.

"Heronstar seeks quarrel and disturbed the peace at the gathering, he insulted both Applestar and Icestar. He even goes so far as to threaten Applestar. I do not blame MarshClan for their leader's behavior but we must be cautious," Mothstar elaborated.

Rubblefur nodded. "Your word is law, Mothstar. Thank you. Apprentices, into your dens. I'll be taking you all on the two dawn patrols I'll be sending in that case."

Bubblefur, still excited after the buzz from the gathering, didn't feel like going to sleep, and knew in her gut that once she did get to sleep, she wouldn't be able to get back up. Reluctantly she went into her den to sleep.

Whitewolf and Bearfern (and Owlberry if you'd like), who had promised their kits that they could stay up just this once to wait for the clan to return, ushered their kits into their nests.

"Okay!" Dustpaw rushed off to her den and curled up in attempt to sleep.

((Next morning, I suppose?))

Rubblefur woke from his slumber easily, giving his limbs a stretch before pouncing from branch to branch, until he landed neatly on the forest floor. The moon had only just set, so he hadn't slept for very long. He would wait until dawn before waking the other warriors and apprentices. He went into thoughts about who he should take and on which patrols. He would make two...
He hadn't been deputy for long, and enjoyed the power, more than anything. After Fallowsong had passed away, he had taken her place as deputy.

Dustpaw yawned and padded out of her den and into the clearing. Then she padded up to Rubblefur. "Can I go on patrol?" she asked.

Rubblefur purred. "You were going on one anyway, Dustpaw. But sure. Can you wake the other apprentices for me? I'll send a special patrol, made up of just apprentices." He said, thinking to himself which warrior he would send to keep an eye on them. This would act as an early assessment to see which apprentice was where, and what they still needed to learn. Rubblefur thought that was one of the reasons he was picked as deputy- how he could work with cats, young and old, and bring out the best warriors in them. He had always admired that trait about himself.

"Okay!" Dustpaw hared off to wake her siblings and friend. "Lichenpaw, Bubblepaw, Bluepaw! Wake up!"
